美国农业部报告表明，相比一年前，养育孩子的成本增长3.5％，其中护理、教育、交通和食品费用涨幅最大。
报告说，家庭收入不同，养育成本不同。对年收入低于5.941万美元的家庭而言，养育一个孩子至成年的花费为16.908万美元；对年收入高于10.287万美元的家庭而言，花费为38.967万美元。
报告写道，养育成本构成近年来不断变化。定值美元情形下，1960年以来，花在孩子身上的医疗保健费用增长一倍；孩子护理和教育费用的比例从2％升至18％；住房费用比例大致不变，维持在30％。
